A very beautiful large 6-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a refined polychrome painting of 3 red-crowned cranes 丹頂鶴 “Tanchô’duru”. In Japanese culture the crane symbolizes good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years.

The screen is in very nice clean condition with some very minor traces of age. The backside of the screen is decoratively covered with grey paper with a design of waves in silver.

Period: Meiji period (1868-1912). When shipped we will add a certificate of authenticity.
